# How to bulk import jobs from a CSV
## If you have a lot of jobs to add, or want to update jobs you already have, you can import them from a CSV file rather than creating each one by hand.
Available to any role that can, *except where noted*:

### **Solution overview**
Open your architecture, click **Create job**, then **Upload a file** under **Import from CSV**. Download the template, fill it with your jobs, upload it, check how your columns are matched, confirm the rows, and import.
#### Step 1: Upload your file
1. In the **Create job** window, click **Upload a file** under **Import from CSV**. The **Import jobs from CSV** wizard opens.
2. Click **Get template** to download a CSV file. Fill it in with your information, adding additional columns as necessary. You get the chance to rename them or turn them into new custom attributes at the review step.
3. Drag and drop your CSV onto **Drop your CSV here**, or click **Choose file**. The file should be CSV, UTF-8.
**How to fill in the template
1\. One header row on the first line.** Header names are matched exactly, so keep them on the first row.
**2. Name attribute columns to match**, for example title, family, department, location, employment\_type.
**3. Point factor columns use the PointFactor\_ prefix**, for example *PointFactor\_Skills\_Knowledge or PointFactor\_Responsibility\_People*. A bare column such as *Skills\_Knowledge* is picked up too, but flagged for you to confirm.
**4. Job title decides create or update.** A title that already exists in the architecture is treated as an update.
**5. Aim for up to 100 rows per file.** This is a recommendation, not a hard limit. Split larger exports into a few files.
#### Step 2: Review columns
The platform reads the whole file and shows how each column was matched, with totals for rows, columns, matched, and need a decision.
1. Columns that matched automatically need no action. For every column that needs a decision, use the **Rename to** dropdown to do one of three things:
1. **Map it to an existing attribute.**
2. **Leave it out.** The column is not imported. This does not cause an error.
3. **Create a new custom attribute from it.** See [How to create a custom attribute](https://knowledge.skillstrust.org/create-attribute?hsLang=en).
2. Point factor columns are detected for you and shown as, for example, Skills \> Knowledge. Correct each one if needed.
3. Anything you leave unresolved is simply left out of the import. When you are happy, click **Continue** at the bottom of the page.
#### Step 3: Confirm rows
1. You now see how many rows will be created, updated, or skipped. Use the checkboxes to choose which rows to import, then click **Import \[n\] jobs**.
2. The final screen confirms how many jobs were imported, with totals for received, created, updated, and failed.
3. If any rows failed, each is listed with a reason. Click **Download failed rows as CSV** to download just the failed rows, fix them, and import them again.
